2025 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 1 at the New York Jets
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2025 regular season schedule, by week.
Week 1 at the New York Jets
Date: Sunday, September 7th – 1:00pm EST
TV: CBS
Betting Line: Steelers (-3) / Moneyline: Steelers -150 / Jets +130
Last Meeting: 10/24/24 – Steelers 37, Jets 15
Overall Series Record: Steelers lead series 21-7-0
2024 Records:
Steelers: 10-7
Jets: 5-12
Projected Starting QB Matchup: Justin Fields vs. Aaron Rodgers
Analysis: The narratives and storylines heading into the season-opener are lengthy. Rodgers vs. his previous team, and Fields with the team who outbid the Steelers for his services this past offseason. If you look at that situation closer, it became clear the Steelers didn’t want to match the Jets’ offer, and don’t think that won’t be used as fuel for Fields heading into the Week 1 game.
But the narratives don’t end there, not with Aaron Glenn as the new head coach for the Jets, and this after reportedly telling Rodgers he had no interest in having him return as the Jets starting quarterback in 2025 and beyond.
On paper the Steelers should be able to handle their business vs. the Jets, even on the road. But stranger things have happened, and Steelers fans know this all too well. Nonetheless, I predict the Steelers start on the right track, winning their season opener on the road vs. the Jets.
Prediction: Steelers 27, Jets 17
