2025 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 2 vs. the Seattle Seahawks
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2025 regular season schedule, by week.
Week 2 vs. the Seattle Seahawks
Date: Sunday, September 14th – 1:00pm EST
TV: FOX
Betting Line: Steelers (-1.5) / Total: 42.5 / Moneyline: Steelers -122 / Jets +102
Last Meeting: 12/31/2023 – Steelers 30, Seahawks 23
Overall Series Record: Steelers lead series 11-10-0
2024 Records:
Steelers: 10-7
Seahawks: 10-7
Projected Starting QB Matchup: Aaron Rodgers vs. Sam Darnold
Analysis: The narratives and storylines heading into the home-opener are lengthy, just like they were in the Week 1 matchup vs. the Jets. Week 1 it was Rodgers vs. his previous team, and Fields with the team who outbid the Steelers for his services this past offseason. In the Steelers home opener in Week 2 it is DK Metcalf vs. the team who drafted him, and also shipped him to Pittsburgh for a 2nd Round pick this offseason.
The last time the Seahawks came to Pittsburgh in Week 2, it was the game when Ben Roethlisberger saw his elbow give out and he was lost for the season in 2019. However, both of these teams come into the 2025 contest with new quarterbacks at the helm. Obviously, Rodgers leading the Steelers, but Sam Darnold takes over for Geno Smith, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.
Was Darnold’s 2024 season with the Minnesota Vikings a flash in the pan? Or will he pick up where he left off in Seattle?
On paper the Steelers should be able to handle their business vs. the Seahawks, especially in the home opener. But Steelers fans know nothing is ever guaranteed, even at home in the home opener. Nonetheless, I predict the Steelers keep up their winning ways, winning their home opener at home vs. the Seahawks. Yes, I have them starting the season 2-0.
Prediction: Steelers 28, Seahawks 20
As we continue our breakdowns of the Steelers 2025 schedule, you can see those past breakdowns below:
a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s the last time the Steelers beat Seattle up in Seattle Mason Rudolph was the Steelers starting quarterback and the Steelers won in Seattle for the first time now it’s Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback and his record isn’t good against the Seahawks up in Seattle
Ed, Pgh is at home vs. Seattle, that is to be our ’25 home opener…
