2025 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 8 vs. the Green Bay Packers
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2025 regular season schedule, by week.
Week 8 vs. the Green Bay Packers
Date: Sunday, October 26th – 8:20pm EST
TV: NBC (Sunday Night Football)
Betting Line: Packers (-1.5) / Total: 44.5 / Moneyline: Packers -120 / Steelers +100
Last Meeting: 11/12/2023 – Steelers 23, Packers 19
Overall Series Record: Green Bay Packers lead series 20-17-0
2024 Records:
Steelers: 10-7
Packers: 11-6
Projected Starting QB Matchup: Aaron Rodgers vs. Jordan Love
Analysis: The Steelers and Bengals Week 7 game took place on Thursday Night Football in Week 7, which gives the Steelers the traditional mini-bye after playing on a short week. In Week 8 they return home, and will host the Green Bay Packers in primetime, this time Sunday Night Football.
The Steelers are historically great on extended rest, and being at home on prime time absolutely helps. The fans will be fired up, and this is the game which will have the Steelers wearing their throwback uniforms with gold helmets. To some that might not matter, but I think it adds a little juice to the team.
If this is indeed Aaron Rodgers last season, he absolutely will love to beat his former team. If he does, he’ll join rarified air of quarterbacks who have beaten all 32 teams in the NFL. Does that matter? To a player like Rodgers it does. He knows what is on the line, even if from a historical standpoint.
What does this all boil down to? I think it boils down to the Steelers getting back to their winning ways, and dong so in primetime. The win moves their record to 5-2 on the season, according to my predictions.
Prediction: Steelers 29, Packers 24
As we continue our breakdowns of the Steelers 2025 schedule, you can see those past breakdowns below:
Week 2: vs. the Seattle Seahawks
Week 3: at the New England Patriots
Week 4: vs. the Minnesota Vikings
Well, if they lose the week prior, as I expect plus the mini bye, my heart cold see them pull off a win here. My head says not likely so zero chanced I’d bet on it.
Steelers are a small home dog, but rise up to upset the Pack, undoubtedly due to the new “throwbacks” and Sunday Night Football. I KNOW Pgh wins next week vs. the Colts, as SteelYinzer and MattCat will be in attendance, and Pgh will choose NOT to play down to Colts’s level.
JoeB, note that Pgh will be rest-disadvantaged vs. Bills, @ Ravens, and @ Dolphins. JohnS and I are concerned about these games PLUS the @ Chargers then vs. Bengals (Cincinnati has a full bye).
Things will be real, Week 7 onward.
