2025 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 9 vs. the Indianapolis Colts
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2025 regular season schedule, by week.
Week 9 vs. the Indianapolis Colts
Date: Sunday, November 2nd – 1:00pm EST
TV: CBS
Betting Line: Steelers (-3.5) / Total: 44.5 / Moneyline: Steelers -175 / Colts +145
Last Meeting: 09/29/2024 Colts 27 vs. Steelers 24
Overall Series Record: Pittsburgh Steelers lead series 27-8-0
2024 Records:
Steelers: 10-7
Colts: 8-9
Projected Starting QB Matchup: Aaron Rodgers vs. Daniel Jones/Anthony Richardson
Analysis: The Steelers have back-to-back home games for the first time in the 2025 regular season, this not counting the “technical” home and home when the Steelers play the Vikings in Dublin, and then return after their bye week to play the Browns at home.
Coming off a predicted prime time win over the Green Bay Packers, and a 5-2 predicted record heading into this game, many would also predict the famed “let down” game.
When you look at the potential 2025 Colts team, they are a tough team to predict. Who will be the quarterback? Will it be Daniel Jones for the duration of the year? Or by Week 9 will it be the Colts turning to Anthony Richardson, their former 1st Round draft pick, to hopefully show signs he is their long term answer at the position.
If you ask me now, in the month of July, I’d suggest the quarterback will be Daniel Jones, but in my opinion the key factor here won’t be who is at quarterback. It also won’t matter the Steelers offense. It will be the Steelers ability to stop the run. When the Steelers traveled to Indy last year, nothing was working on either side of the football, but it was the defensive let down which was the most deflating. Watching Joe Flacco, coming off the bench mind you, carve up the defense was something which is difficult to get out of my mind.
Nonetheless, I think the run defense, and the secondary, will be up to the task, and the Steelers find their way to another win. Yes, I’m predicting a victory, and a 6-2 start to the season. Sound familiar?
Tougher games await the black-and-gold, and it won’t always be sunshine and rainbows, for those who question my predictions to this point.
Prediction: Steelers 27, Colts 17
As we continue our breakdowns of the Steelers 2025 schedule, you can see those past breakdowns below:
Week 2: vs. the Seattle Seahawks
Week 3: at the New England Patriots
Week 4: vs. the Minnesota Vikings
Wee 6: vs. the Cleveland Browns
MattCat approves this prediction, so does SteelYinzer.
a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s this shuold be a easy game beating the Indianapolis Colts just as long the Steelers don’t sleep on the Indianapolis Colts
Coin flip game to me. I think they get handled by Green Bal, so perhaps they’re up for this one?
What makes you think they get handled by GB? Just curious…
Love’s pretty good, when he’s on… while I’m attending the Colts game, better for Pgh to beat GB than Indy–GBis a common opponent For AFC North.
I think GB is a better team than the Steelers
I pin my hope on boring(?) alternate unis, JoeB. Fanatic. What’s your anticipated record thru 8 games for the Steelers?
Uhhh, 2-6 maaayyybe 3-5. I think the Jets new coach has them ready, and they “shock” a not yet playing together Steelers team. Same with the Seahawks, but I could see a W there too. They don’t know how to win in NE and Vrabel will have them ready, Vikings = L, They win a closer than it should be Cleveland game, Lose to Cin and GB, and coin flip the Colts.
Maybe I’m be buying every pessimistic narrative, but I don’t think this is a good team Matt.
Ouch! No doubt Pgh’s sledding will be tough Week 7 forward. I’m more optimistic, I’ve got Pgh as mid.
I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t shake my gut feeling.
