3 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Sunday’s training camp practice
The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field at St. Vincent College for training camp on Sunday. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media about their day on the field. Since he was asked about a couple of players, I am excited to bring back the players mentioned article to Steel Curtain Network for the 2025 season! Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period with the exception of one injury update.
Alex Highsmith
Coach Tomlin gave an injury update on Alex Highsmith.
“The only new injury to mention is Alex Highsmith didn’t finish. Don’t know the severity of it over here in the one-on-one pass rush, he stopped. He said he felt his maybe his groin. We’ll evaluate it, and I’ll be more definitive next time we talk not only about the injury, but the significance of it.”
Mark Robinson
Coach Tomlin was asked when Mark Robinson added fullback to his resume.
“He played running back in college. Those of you that are familiar with his resume, so it’s not a completely foreign act. We just want to give him a look at it and see what it looked like. Maybe we’ll do some more in the future with him. Maybe we’ll do some more with some others. The more versatile you are, it adds to your calls, and it adds to ours.”
Coach Tomlin was asked if they had a number 93 in white waiting or if they had to have one specially made.
“I’m not going make a big deal out of it. I know it’s probably pretty interesting, but we just gave him a couple of snaps.”
Mason Rudolph
Coach Tomlin was asked about Mason Rudolph, the role he’s accepted and done, and how he sees him doing this camp in handling all of that.
“Mason’s been a team player. We’re familiar with him his second time here He’s always a hand in the pile guy. He’s always
working to compete and get better as well, and so I appreciate his ability to balance those things.”

I’m a bit concerned about Highsmith, encouraged about Robinson’s demonstration of blocking, and gratified at the maturity of Mason.
Just hoping Highsmith’s groin doesn’t turn into Woodley’s Hamstring (if y’all remember that back in the day).
