30 Scenarios in 30 Days: Aaron Rodgers will surpass the Steelers 2024 passing statistics
The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the 2025 regular season, but before the real games begin, the team has to head to training camp back at Saint Vincent College in order to fine tune their skills. As we here at SCN prepare you for the start of camp, we give you a series called “30 Scenarios in 30 Days” which gives you a Steelers scenario every day leading up to the start of camp.
It is simple how it works. We provide you the scenario, reasons why it will or won’t happen, and then our prediction for what we think will take place.
Let’s get to the scenario…
Scenario: Aaron Rodgers will surpass the Steelers 2024 passing statistics
Why it will happen: The Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 weren’t known for their passing prowess. Despite Russell Wilson giving the team an offensive spark through the air when he took over as the starting quarterback, the team did have their issues moving the ball through the air. Which begs the question, could Aaron Rodgers surpass all basic passing stats by himself in 2025?
Let’s take a look at the Steelers combined passing statistics from 2024:
2024 Passing Stats
Attempts: 499
Completions: 321
Yards: 3,264
TDs: 21
INTs: 6
Passing 1st Downs: 158
Now let’s take a look at Aaron Rodgers 17-game stats for the New York Jets last season:
Aaron Rodgers Passing Stats
Attempts: 584
Completions: 368
Yards: 3,897
TDs: 28
INTs: 11
Passing 1st Downs: 192
At this point in his career many might doubt Rodgers’ abilities, but if he is able to stay healthy there is no doubting the fact he should be able to surpass the mundane stat lines from the 2024 Steelers passing attack.
Why it won’t happen: Even though Rodgers’ stat line last season would have been superior to the Steelers combined statistics, there are a lot of factors which could derail Rodgers having a superior stat line.
First, and obviously, is injury. If Rodgers misses any number of games it could hinder the overall numbers in this comparison exercise. Next, will the Steelers offense be prolific enough to surpass last season’s numbers? This goes beyond the pass catchers, but also the offensive line. Can they keep Rodgers upright and provide him time to pass the football? If these pieces of the puzzle don’t live up to their end of the bargain, it could sink this scenario.
Prediction: To be honest, I think the question marks which were in the section which “won’t happen” will actually live up to their end of the bargain and help Rodgers surpass the marks set by both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. While this bar is not a huge bar to clear, having a more prolific passing offense will be a welcome sight in Pittsburgh. I think Rodgers gets the job done.

I’m inching towards accepting Rogers as the guy. His decision speed, ability to release right away keeps popping up in film from last year. Catch and go with the our TEs (Washington…Please!) could be some fun,That, along with TJ’s contract…it’s going to be a great camp.
