30 Scenarios in 30 Days: The Pittsburgh Steelers will win the Super Bowl in 2025
The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the 2025 regular season, but before the real games begin, the team has to head to training camp back at Saint Vincent College in order to fine tune their skills. As we here at SCN prepare you for the start of camp, we give you a series called “30 Scenarios in 30 Days” which gives you a Steelers scenario every day leading up to the start of camp.
It is simple how it works. We provide you the scenario, reasons why it will or won’t happen, and then our prediction for what we think will take place.
Let’s get to the FINAL scenario…
Scenario: The Pittsburgh Steelers will win the Super Bowl
Why it will happen: Every NFL team starts with the same 0–0 record to begin the 2025 season. That means all 32 teams have Super Bowl aspirations when the year starts. But is every team truly a contender?
There was something important from the last two seasons that showed the Pittsburgh Steelers might not be as far away from the Super Bowl as some may think. Although much is made of the offensive fire power in the current NFL, the last two Super Bowl Champons have had their defenses end the season higher ranked than their offense. In 2023, the Chiefs did not have nearly the complementary offensive weapons that they have had in the past in 2023, but the defense was enough to make up the difference. As for the 2024 Eagles, they had a top 10 offense with the league’s top ranked defense. And when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, their defense could be top-notch.
Another key part of winning it all is having a quarterback that can get the job done. There are only a handful of active quarterbacks in the NFL who have won a Super Bowl. And even though he’s at the end of his career, the Steelers have a Super Bowl winning quarterback again in 2025 in Aaron Rodgers. Adding some other big pieces this off-season, albeit some being in their 30s, will help things as well. If all these things come together, the Steelers very well could be one of the teams vying for hoisting the Lombardi at the end of the season.
Why it won’t happen: Even if a team was a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl before the season started, the odds of it coming to fruition is still very difficult. Between injuries, team chemistry, differences in strength of the schedule than what was anticipated, and other unpredictable events, there are a number of things that could change how a season plays out for a team. Even one bad overturned call can turn a one seed into a two seed and get them bounced from the playoffs (Jesse James caught that ball).
More than just the odds of winning the Super Bowl, there are a lot of things specifically with the Pittsburgh Steelers that have to come together for them in enough time to make the postseason and to be playing their best football in the playoffs. There are questions such as wide receiver production, new quarterbacks, new running backs, if the offensive line can come together, and the age of the defense just to name a few. To win the Super Bowl, not just some of those things, but likely all of them would have to go in the Steelers favor. Even if they did, it still wouldn’t mean the Steelers win the Super Bowl.
It’s hard to win a Super Bowl. That’s why there are still franchises that haven’t done so.
Prediction: We each give our thoughts on this last one…
Jeff: The Steelers have the opportunity to be much improved this season, and I have already suggested they’ll get out of their non-playoff winning slump this season; however, I think winning the Super Bowl might be a bit premature. Could it happen? They would be catching lightning in a bottle with a mixture of veteran players and young talent infused into the lineup. It’s happened before, and I am hoping this 2025 season is a wild ride, but I just can’t suggest the team has a shot at winning the Super Bowl this year. Let’s just hope it is a stepping stone in the right direction towards being yearly contenders again.
Dave: I believe the Pittsburgh Steelers can take a big step in 2025. Can they step all the way to a Super Bowl victory? I would have to say probably not if I am being completely honest. Did that keep me from placing a wager for them to win the Super Bowl during the offseason? Absolutely not. My hope will almost always spring eternal yet still bring some grounded reality into it. I will cheer every week for this team to win and I believe that they can beat anybody in the NFL. But having it all lineup perfectly is something I’m not ready to say will happen at this point on the calendar. First they would have to win just one playoff game. There are just too many variables for 2025 that have entered into the equation, but I’m still going to tune in every time they take the field.

I could write a story where everything goes right and the Steelers win. I think all the pieces on defense are in place.
On offense Aaron Rodgers was league MVP in 2021. Throw in a season lost to injury and a season to fully recover and there is only one mediocre season (by his standard) from MVP level play. I think the pass catchers are there, and the backs are adequate. Oline is in place and if McCormick improves and Jones does as well.
Is it likely? No. but…
I think the 2015 Broncos would be a good template for this team. That’s how I envision the Steelers winning if they do miraculously win the Super Bowl. Elite defense, solid run game, hof qb on his lost ride managing the offense. Peyton Manning wasn’t really great at all that last year, but they still pulled it off. We’ll see. Either way, it’s always fun to watch Steelers football! Here we go
I just pulled up their game log. They weren’t blowing teams out of the water. But the defense did their part. That’s a big question for the 2025 Steelers. There were weaknesses last year that hopefully were adressed with guys like Harmon, Black, Slay, and Ramsey. I think the defense can be good enough if Teryl Austin can scheme up a good enough defense. When I look at the offense, it all comes down to the offensive line and Aaron Rodgers being half way decent.
I had this 2015 broncos comparison in my head with the 2021 Steelers for Ben’s last ride, but looking back, that team was flawed in so many ways. I think this team can replicate what the broncos did. Do I think it will happen? Probably not, but there is a template on how to do it.
Or ’20 Buccaneers? Brady. Yuck. Bucs threw the ball a bunch though, sometimes to Scotty Miller. Always open Scotty Miller.
Yeah they put up a lot of points. I don’t see the Steelers doing that
That is also true, well said. Mission accomplished, Dave and Jeff!
