4 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Saturday’s practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers were on the practice field at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in Pittsburgh for practice on Saturday. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin briefly addressed the media about their day on the field. Derrick Harmon

Coach Tomlin was asked if there is any update on the severity of Derrick Harmon’s sprain.

“Like I said after the game, it’s a sprain. It could be characterized as week to week.”

Coach Tomlin was asked, with Derrick being out, who’s the next man up and what he likes about the depth there.

“We’re not ready to talk those things. I see no need to. We’re very much still in development. I’ll start talking about depth chart issues at the appropriate time on game week.”

Coach Tomlin was asked if he knows yet if Harmon will avoid injured reserve.

“I have no idea. We’re not even in those discussions. We’re just trying to have good day right now.”

Beanie Bishop

Coach Tomlin was asked about Beanie Bishop not playing on Thursday and if he is dealing with something.

“Yeah, but it could be characterized as day to day.”

Juan Thornhill

Coach Tomlin was asked if Juan Thornhill is also dealing with injury.

“Juan had some nice work today. I think he ran on the side and got the top speed. Expect to see him participate here in the very near future.”

Yahya Black

Coach Tomlin was asked what he likes about Yahya Black and what he’s been able to show as a rookie.

“He appears to be well conditioned for a guy his size, is a great place to start. He’s a high energy guy. He’s a good communicator. He’s got a good foundational base along those lines.”
