6 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Day 3 of Minicamp on Thursday
The 2025 offseason is rolling on! Ahead of the 40-day hiatus before training camp, the Steelers were on the field for team activities for the final week of offseason activities in the form of mandatory minicamp. After hearing from him following the first practice Tueday, Tomlin spoke to the media to answer questions one last time on Thursday. With plenty of questions asked by those in attendance, it is once again time for a players mentioned article. Remember these are current members of the Pittsburgh Steelers where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period.
Derrick Harmon, Yayha Black, & Kaleb Johnson
Coach Tomlin was asked about rookies coming in highly conditioned and how it looks for big guys like Derrick Harmon and Yayha Black. In his response, Coach Tomlin also brought up Kaleb Johnson.
“I describe it as conditioning relative to their positions. For guys like those guys, conditioning means one thing, and for Kaleb , it means something else. They all know what it means because we’ve been afforded the opportunity to play football over the last several weeks, and they get a sense of the rigors of their roles. They’ve also had an opportunity to work alongside veterans and see the additional work that they do to aid in the preparation. Our goal is to define it for them and to teach them, but they’re going to be gaining big time understanding about that and a lot of other things continually throughout this process, particularly for the young ones, as you mentioned.”
T.J. Watt
Coach Tomlin was asked if he expects T.J. Watt to be at training camp on July 24.
“I’m not going to get into speculation there. You guys know what negotiations are about. I’m optimistic we’re going to get things done, because we have two sides that want to get things done. When that’s going to occur, I do not know.”
Coach Tomlin was asked if he has been in communication with Watt this week.
“There certainly has been communication with him and communication between him and I, but I have no intention of sharing any component of it with you guys.”
Cameron Johnston & Corliss Waitman
Coach Tomlin was asked about Cameron Johnston looking new and improved after coming back from the injury. In his response, Coach Tomlin mentioned Corliss Waitman.
“I just really appreciate his mindset regarding his rehabilitation, not only the things that you guys get to see out here, but throughout the process, he stayed engaged all year. He was an asset to Corliss and others. He was ever present. He’s a true professional and I respect it.”

Just listed to the preview form yesterday and heard BAD’s comments on Waitman. Love that he wants to be a Steeler!
He’s professional, good player, good guy.
