7 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Wednesday’s training camp practice
The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field at St. Vincent College for training camp on Wednesday. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media about their day on the field. Since he was asked about a number of players, I am excited to bring back the players mentioned article to Steel Curtain Network for the 2025 season! Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period.
Mark Robinson & Joey Portter Jr.
Coach Tomlin was asked what he liked out of the physicality from guys like Mark Robinson and Joey Porter Jr.
“You know people that have physicality is an asset to the game. It needs to show up and show up consistently. The people that you mentioned do, and so it’s good to see.”
Coach Tomlin was asked about how much improvement would he say Porter made in his tackling.
“You know, it’s just one day sample. For me, it’s about putting together good consecutive days and displaying consistency. Certainly, had a good day today.”
Broderick Jones
Coach Tomlin was asked about Broderick being dressed today, but he wasn’t in the team periods and if he is working back to practice.
“He worked partially today, working individually and on the side. So, he’s moving back to full participation.”
Troy Fautanu & T.J. Watt
Coach Tomlin was asked about Troy Fautanu having a couple nice reps against T.J. Watt in one on one and how he would assess Fautanu’s first practice since returning.
“You know, I thought he represented himself well today. As you mentioned, he really gets an opportunity to improve and improve fast because of who he gets to work against every day.”
Kenneth Gainwell & Payton Wilson
Coach Tomlin was asked if Kenneth Gainwell and Payton Wilson lived up to the expectations in backs on backers.
“It certainly did, but it will continue in a variety of ways.”
