Breiden Fehoko announces he is signing with the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team who is dealing with a myriad of injuries along their defensive line. As of Thursday, head coach Mike Tomlin stated there were three defensive tackles who are all dealing with knee injuries. We don’t know the severity of those injuries, but as the team prepares for their final week of preparation before the preseason begins you have to think some roster moves will be made.

The team doesn’t want players like Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton, and even rookie Derrick Harmon to be over-worked when it isn’t necessary, so filling out the roster with healthy bodies will be paramount.

One of those players who is joining the team is a familiar face, and that would be none other than Breiden Fehoko. This per Fehoko’s personal Twitter/X account:

At this time, the Steelers have not made any roster moves official, but it could be coming at any moment. The team is preparing for their Friday Night Lights practice this evening, and moves typically occur before those workouts begin. With that said, it also could come tomorrow, Saturday.

Either way, Fehoko has been on and off the Steelers roster, and practice squad, the past few seasons and is very familiar with the team, defense, and expectations which will be placed on him. If he plans on making the 53-man roster he’ll need to prove his worth over players like Yahya Black, who is looking to carve out his own spot on the roster along the defensive front.

At least two of the three injuries are sufficiently serious, unfortunately.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that we had a lot of bodies in the D line position which would make camp cuts interesting this year? Lowry was on the bubble for a camp cut, Otomewo looked interesting but hasn’t proven anything and I don’t even know who Slade is. Now decisions on Leal and Loudermilk may be easier. I liked Fehoko as a camp body and don’t really see an issue with a few lineman not named Cam Heyward going down.

Hey, Levon. I’ll add that Slade was on the PS last season. Fehoko’s return means another injured DT will waived/released shortly. Pgh is looking at least at one other DT, today. Pgh needs guys just to finish camp, kinda like DEFCON 3, but Pgh is down from DEFCON 2.
