Counting Down the days to key 2025 dates for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Let the countdown continue!
The 2025 NFL Draft, rookie minicamps, and the release of the 2025 NFL schedule are now all behind us. With mandatory minicamp starting tomorrow, let’s check back in on the official count down of the number of days to key offseason dates.
1 day: Minicamp
After six days of OTAs the past two weeks, the Steelers are scheduled to have three days of mandatory minicamp starting on Tuesday, June 10 and concluding on Thursday, June 12. This will be the first time the entire 2025 roster will be together on the field.
4 days: The 40-day Steelers fast
There are exactly 40 days of “no Steelers action” from the time the team breaks minicamp and when they report to St Vincent College for training camp. This is also known as the “no news is good news” period.
37 days: Training Camp
Now that the Steelers have officially announced the start date of training camp, they are reporting as expected the middle of the final full week of July on Wednesday, July 25, 2025. The first practice is scheduled for Thursday, July 26, at 1:55 AM, a change back to afternoon practices after holding their sessions in the morning last year. The first practice in pads is the next Tuesday on July 29, the day after their first off day.
45 days: Hall of Fame Game
This date won’t be as significant to the Steelers for 2025 as they are not playing in the Hall of Fame Game, which will kick off the weekend on Thursday July 31, 2025. It is significant because it is the start of the NFL preseason. The Hall of Fame activities will be over the course of the weekend from the game Thursday through Sunday with the 2025 enshrinement scheduled for Saturday.
54 days: The Steelers First Preseason Game
The Steelers are scheduled to have their first preseason game on Saturday, August 9, 2025 in Jacksonville against the Jaguars at 7 PM. The game will be seen in both the Pittsburgh and Jacksonville areas and is not listed as one of the games covered live by the NFL Network.
66 days: The Steelers Last Preseason Game
After hosting a preseason game in the second week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Steelers third preseason game goes back to a familiar opponent and a location. On Thursday, August 21,the Steelers will be traveling to Charlotte to face the Carolina Panthers at 7 PM and is scheduled to be shown on NFL Network.
71 days: 53-man Rosters
The last four seasons where the NFL had a 17-game schedule, the final roster cut down date was the Tuesday following the final preseason games. If they stick to the same schedule this year, and there is no reason for them to change, the date would be Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
80 days: NFL Kickoff Game
Thursday, September 4, 2025 will be the first game of the NFL season. The game will be played in Philadelphia and the Duper Bowl Champs will host the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 PM on NBC.
83 days: Steelers opening game
The Steelers start their regular-season campaign by traveling to New York to face the Jets. The game is scheduled for 1 PM on CBS.
90 days: Steelers home opener
The Steelers play their first regular-season home game in Week 2 when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, September 14. The game is scheduled for 1 PM on FOX.
104 days: Steelers host NFL’s first regular season game in Ireland
The date is no longer just a rumor. The Steelers will be the host team against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Dublin at Croke Park. It will be the first NFL regular season game played in Ireland.
201-202 days: Steelers final regular season game
The Steelers last game of the 2025 season will be at Acrisure Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18. Whether the game will be on Saturday or Sunday, as well as the kickoff time, will not be announced until Week 17.
237 days: Super Bowl LX
Super Bowl LX is scheduled to be played on February 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California..
Has anyone from the team offered an explation of why only six OTAs? Seems so Bengals-like.
Maybe they are more focused on the phase 2 style workouts. Maybe a focus on conditioning and soft ligament work to avoid the late season workouts? But that’s 100% unsubstantiated speculation from my part
They do need to address soft tissue injuries more thoroughly.
Best wishes to all of the participants in minicamp.
