Has the Steelers 2025 offseason season seemed to drag on?

The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason often seems to last forever. Even though the Steelers are 2/3 of the way from their last game to when they report to Latrobe, I find myself looking for things to discuss about our beloved Black & Gold.

In fact, I looked back to the same week in 2024 to see what was going on and what I could possibly expect from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the coming days. What did I find? I found myself cheated out of four days…

That’s right, Steelers fans, the Steelers should have started OTAs this week. But for some reason, instead of scheduling the allowed 10 practices, they are only scheduled for six in 2025 before holding mandatory mini camp.

Heading into Memorial Day weekend of 2024, Steelers fans were able to come to steelcurtiannetwork.com and get OTA tracking articles and quotes from players and coaches. It was a great tease for almost a full month before hitting the “no news is good news“ time period ahead of training camp.

But alas, we are struck with another week of nothingness.

It’s not that Phase 3 of OTA‘s is the most exciting thing on the football calendar. It’s football in shorts. But it is team drills and run throughs. It’s something. And for Steelers fans, we’ve been waiting for “something“ for quite some time.

Yes, there was the exhilaration of the DK Metcalf trade. Free agency is always a buzz regardless of what the Steelers are doing. The NFL draft is a spectacle of its own and possibly the NFL‘s biggest event of the year. We even have the schedule release as a growing event. But waiting on something else to happen, like at quarterback, has gotten very old and redundant.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s that the end of the school year is in sight and summer is almost upon us. But by not having OTAs to report on this week, it has me grasping for anything about the Steelers that I can get.

As for why the Steelers decided to cut a week, their only four day week of Phase 3 remind you, is something many fans have been asking. I know several years ago the Steelers canceled the final week of Phase 3 simply because everybody showed up and they got so much done during OTAs they let the players go. But that’s been a few years. Not even scheduling four OTAs is quite curious and I have yet to see a good explanation.

If you are one of those Steelers fans who is just waiting for the next thing to get here, there was an extra week thrown in this year by cutting OTAs. So it’s not just you. But as someone who is looking for Steelers content this week and really struggling to come up with something new, I really wish that I had reports from players on the field.

Yeah, it’s dragging. Good to have company until football-in-shorts begins. Waiting on tush push (neither a scrum nor a maul), playoff seeding, and onside kick (again!) legislation is painful. Shedeur’s pay cut from Boulder to Cleveland, wow, ouch. While ago, I asked Labriola’s opinion of the decrease in off-season practice time with respect to incresingly poor OL play leaguewide. Hard to drum up that kind of discussion, but perhaps a way to pass some time?

Forgot NFL players’ potential involvement in Olympic flag football. Wow. Won’t that cut into practice time? Time to catch up with NBA, NHL, MLB, tennis, golf…hard to say Olympics were ever honestly amateur.

Major dragging.

Yeah, I’m just being silly. Result of boredum. Maybe NFL owners get bored too, sometimes.

I think Teryl Austin should let DeShon Elliott conduct a team seminar on tackling. He’s excellent, so was Roberts.

a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s no! I have been watching the U.F.L. games because the preseason will be come and gone and won’t get a good look at the draft picks and the undrafted free agents
