Pittsburgh Steelers swap a trio of players on their 90-man roster
The 90-man NFL roster is always a fluid thing. Players are signed, and released, with relative ease based on any number of factors. Sometimes they are injury related, and other times the team needs to add a camp player, or two, at specific positions for a variety of reasons. Either way, life in the NFL, especially training camp and the preseason, is never guaranteed unless you are a solidified starter with a team.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they recently cut a trio of players, and added three, to round out their 90-man roster.
The players cut were:
- OLB Jeremiah Moon
- RB/WR/KR/PR Coradrrelle Patterson
- WR Montana Lemonious-Craig
The players added were:
- DT Domenique Davis
- TE Kevin Foelsch
- RB Lew Nichols
This per the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

As for the three players who were released, they were all dealing with their own ailments which likely resulted in their dismissal from the roster.
For the players added, here is some more information from the Steelers official website:
Davis, who was released earlier this week, spent time on the Steelers practice squad during the 2024 season. Davis originally signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. He was out of the NFL for two seasons before signing with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. He spent time on the Bengals practice squad and active roster during the past two seasons. Davis played college football at North Carolina Charlotte where he appeared in 31 games. He finished with 123 tackles, 51 of them solo stops, 15 tackles for a loss and six sacks.
Foelsch has spent time with the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs, but has yet to see action in an NFL game. He played college football at Division II New Haven, where he had 16 touchdown receptions.
Nichols was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, spending most of the season on the Reserve/Injured List. He has since spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. Nichols played college football at Central Michigan where he rushed for 1,710 yards in 2021, leading the nation. He was the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.

Do you think this makes it easier for Brunner to make the roster with Moon gone?
Brunner is an ILB, and Moon is an OLB. Definitely helps Jack Sawyer; not sure it helps Carson. I guess it might open a few more ST reps?
I don’t think it have any bearing on Sawyer. Moon is really a teams guy. Might help Bruener a little.
Yeah, once you get to the bottom of the depth chart at either inside or outside linebacker, they’re going to keep an extra player based on special teams and not necessarily on the position. So Moon and Brunner have a lot to do with each other. Possibly even more than they had to do with the players at their positions.
I can definitely see him making the team on ST now a little easier that Moon is down for now. Best ability is availability plus being a legacy pick can’t hurt.
Not moves I hoped for, but I understand them.
I wonder the extent of Moon’s injury. I would not be surprised to see him come back to the PS later.
