Steelers add another guard to the 90-man offseason roster
On Tuesday, it was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers had released offensive guard Lecitus Smith. On Wednesday, the reason for the release was revealed as the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have signed guard Nick Broeker to a one-year contract.

A seventh round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 NFL draft out of Ole Miss, Broeker did not make the 53-man roster in Buffalo his rookie season. Before having a chance to place him on the practice squad, Broeker was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. Either inactive or not seeing the field for the Texans first 13 games, Broeker appeared in three contests from Week 15 through Week 17 where he played 13 special team snaps and three offensive snaps.
The next season, Broeker once again made the 53-man roster of the Houston Texas and appeared in nine games while being inactive in eight. Appearing mostly on special teams, Broeker only had six offensive snaps compared to 40 on special teams.
Sticking with the Texans through most of the 2025 offseason, Broeker was waived earlier this month on May 9.
According to Pro Football Reference, Nick Broeker measures in at 6‘5“ and 305 pounds.
When it comes to the Steelers guard position, they have a large amount of players fighting for limited roster spots. Swapping out Lecitus Smith for Nick Broeker still leaves the Steelers with eight players at guard compared to two centers and five offensive tackles. In all, the Steelers currently have 90 players on their offseason roster with spot for one more player as they have an extra roster position with Julius Welschof being a part of the International Pathway Program.

Nick didn’t make Warren Sharp’s FA list.
Welp, that shoots my theory that a spot was opened for Rodgers….I guess he’s still ontop of a mountain sitting in meditation waiting for a sign. Can’t be a subtle sign I guess. Gotta be something definitive like a shooting star passing through a rainbow.
The spot is still there. They have one more because of the IPP. They get 91 and they only have 90 filled. So it’s there without having to open something up.
Hey, I typed that, earlier! Mattcat verified.
Nah, AARod was on the Joe Rogan Experience today. I don’t do podcasts, but my info comes via authority.
Perhaps his spiritual journey is a 9 to 5 type thing. That could explain why it’s taking so long.
