Steelers Burning Question: What is your biggest hesitation about the T.J. Watt deal?

Last season I did the Friday Night Steelers Six Pack and wondered if it was worth doing further. After all, interaction was not great, and sometimes you just have to adjust. So I decided to call an audible, and not just abandon the Friday night meeting of the black-and-gold minds.

Instead of six questions, I wanted to focus solely on one question.

We’ll still do the preamble of what you’re eating/drinking/listening to, but we’ll focus our attention on the one Steelers question of the week. Don’t worry, most weeks I’ll do a bonus/extra credit question for fun. With all that out of the way, let’s get to the question!

The T.J. Watt contract rocked the NFL universe, and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers universe, and the feelings were absolutely mixed. Many were happy Watt will most likely be a “one helmet” guy, but giving a non-quarterback that type of money is difficult to wrap your head around. It’s natural to have some hesitations about the deal, and that’s the question today…what are those hesitations?

For me, I don’t have many reservations surrounding the deal, especially with more details emerging with the Steelers spreading out the cap hit throughout the contract and not back-loading it like many teams tend to do. It’s absolutely an investment, and if Watt can’t stay healthy it can be viewed as a bad investment; however, if he stays healthy and doesn’t show any issues with his play, it will be a wise investment.

Just like any investment, nothing is a sure-thing. Everything is a gamble with a specific amount of risk involved. To me, this was a low risk investment into one of the best players in team history.

What say you?

As for what I’m eating, I’m grilling chicken breasts with salad and vegetables. As for drink, it’s going to be store bought kombucha and the the music will be the Wheeland Brothers as we are heading to northern Virginia to see our kids’ favorite band tonight, the aforementioned Wheeland Brothers!

Happy Friday everyone!!

Today will be low country boil with silver corn, more unsweetened iced tea and state-fair lemonade, with yet more cantaloupe. Amazing, huh? Movie not yet determined, maybe Deadpool instead of The Dead Pool?

Honestly the amount is fine, %36MM APY for four years, though I’d prefer same APY For three years. I don’t get a vote, though. Everyone wins, and T.J. will have a shot of passing up LT56 in stats, and maybe catch Suggs for TFLs. Heck, maybe Pgh can win a playoff game or two, also.

No hesitation at all.
I will be consuming beer tonight, and playing cards with Mom, my nephew, and his girl.

I’m not sure about supper, something smells good, though. If I go into the kitchen to check it out I’ll end up getting a job and won’t be able to finish reading all the TJ stuff.

No hesitations at all. Reason #1: He IS our franchise quarterback. How many times has he kept us in a game or out right won it? Omar has built the group around him to be the best he’s seen in his career. Less snaps in a 17-21 game NFL season is a good thing.

Reason #2: C’mon, he’s TJ Watt. That picture of him posing with Herbig must have created some butterflies in the bellies of opposing linemen.

We (nutcase fans) have so much more to watch this year, so much more to hope for. Keep on rocking in the free world, Omar!

Eating chicken strips out of the air fryer, with a side rice – sooo good!
I’ll be drinking Bells Two Hearted Ale. I love that stuff.
Listening to my son and his friends jamming in the basement, very entertaining.

I actually have zero hesitation about T.J.’s deal. His money won’t keep them from signing anyone they want to keep or add in the next 4 years. I just hope they can get a winner built around him before he’s done.
