Steelers Burning Question: Who wins Rookie of the Year in 2025?

Last season I did the Friday Night Steelers Six Pack and wondered if it was worth doing further. After all, interaction was not great, and sometimes you just have to adjust. So I decided to call an audible, and not just abandon the Friday night meeting of the black-and-gold minds.

Instead of six questions, I wanted to focus solely on one question.

We’ll still do the preamble of what you’re eating/drinking/listening to, but we’ll focus our attention on the one Steelers question of the week. Don’t worry, most weeks I’ll do a bonus/extra credit question for fun. With all that out of the way, let’s get to the question!

Of the Steelers rookies, which one will be the named the Joe Greene Award winner for the best rookie of the season? The last 1st Round pick to be named the Rookie of the Year was Kenny Pickett. Last season the Steelers options were limited with how many injuries were sustained within the draft class.

As for me, I’m going to go with Derrick Harmon. I could see Kaleb Johnson winning the award, but I think Jaylen Warren will still get plenty of carries and could limit Johnson’s statistics. As for Harmon, he’ll be given every opportunity to start, and be an impact player, the question then becomes what stats he puts him in 2025.

What say you?

As for what I’m eating, it’s leftover burgers with salad. As for drink, it’s always store bought kombucha, as usual, and the tunes will be Johnny Blue Skies on vinyl!

Happy Friday everyone!!

One guess as to my drink of choice! Yep, Joe, you got it — GFJ from Sun King Brewing. Dinner is TBD at some point later tonight.

ROY will be Kaleb Johnson. It’s the first thought that came to mind so I’m sticking with it. I just think he is set to have as much run as Derek Harmon will along the defensive front. And I think, given that belief, that he will make the most of it. Honestly, I hope it’s a tough call between he and Harmon. That would be an absolute win/win for the Steelers and this fan base!

SY, I work in Indy on occasion. Next time I’m there I’ll let you know – I think I’d really enjoy having my first one with you!

Katsune (Sangiovese) with some Gyros on the way. Not listening to anything.

I’m going to go with Johnson simply because I don’t know how much playing time Harmon will see. How often will he be rotated out? Will they be cautious knowing he has a slight injury?

Yuengling, bourbon and fried chicken. Even so so fried chicken in Charleston is pretty good. Listening to the yankees radio broadcast.

I’m hoping Harmon as that probably means the Steelers don’t go 0 and 3 against Baltimore. Again, I hate Baltimore so much I dont eat crab cakes.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Yeungling, bourbon, and fried chicken…sounds like the makings of a blues song.

Drinking Furious George from Crooked Crab Brewing. It’s a hefewisen which is not my favorite, but it’s good. A tad sweet, and crisp, good summer beer.

Got home late and ate some sort honey chipotle chicken strip my bride had in the fridge. Not bad.

Listening to some songs my son’s bad recorded. They’re really getting good.

Who’s rookie of the year? I’m going with Johnson. I just think he’s got an better path to pop. RB is higher profile, and ha can make a more visable impact early.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I keep wondering which one will be lost for the season before it even starts. I don’t know if it’s happening more in Pittsburgh than other teams or not, but it just seems like it happens far too much.

No! Not this year. Seriously though, I wonder if the Steelers don’t do a bit of exaggeration on the injury front to sort of protect the players and give them a “redshirt” of sorts. Yes, I know it’s not kosher, but I do wonder sometimes…

Hmmm, never thought about it that way. Interesting.
