Steelers make Breiden Fehoko signing official, place Dean Lowry on IR
There is a growing trend in the NFL, and that would be players breaking their own news. Pittsburgh Steelers fans saw this when Cordarrelle Patterson broke the news of his release a day before the organization made it official. They saw it again on August 1st when defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko announced he was signing back with the Steelers. This too a day before the team made it official.
Nonetheless, Fehoko’s signing is now official, and it coincides with Dean Lowry being places on the Reserve/Injured List ending his 2025 season before it began.
This per Ray Fittpaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Veteran DL Dean Lowry was placed on IR. Breiden Fehoko has been signed to take his place on the roster.

This is the second move made in back-to-back days along the defensive line, and it comes after Mike Tomlin said Thursday three defensive linemen were dealing with knee injuries of some magnitude. Lowry’s injury was serious enough to end his season, and it has resulted in multiple roster moves at the position.
Nonetheless, in case you don’t recall Fehoko’s history, here it is courtesy of the Steelers official website:
Fehoko originally signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent prior to the 2023 season. He spent the previous three seasons (2020-2022) with the Los Angeles Chargers after signing with them as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft.
Fehoko started the 2023 season on the Steelers practice squad but was promoted to the 53-man roster in season. He was later released from the 53-man roster and signed back to the practice squad. He also spent part of the 2024 season on the team’s practice squad.
Fehoko has played in 19 career games, starting four of them.
Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the rest of training camp and the preseason.
For some unknown reason, I had/have an odd attraction to the idea of Breiden Fehoko being with the Steelers. I think I just like the positive attitude and humor he has always seemed to display. Glad he’s back!
Me too! I’ve always liked him
