Steelers reportedly signing Robert Woods in free agency
The 2025 NFL Draft is complete, and the final wave of NFL free agency is just getting started.
Why is the wave just getting started now? Because after the draft has concluded, specifically after 4 PM EST the Monday after the draft, no free agents signed count against the annual compensatory formula.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans have been studying the formula very close this offseason, and after Omar Khan admitted it was a priority for the team in 2026, it became paramount. With that said, the team reportedly is bringing in veteran wide receiver Robert Woods, who won’t count against the team’s compensatory pick formula.

Woods spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans. Last season he played in 15 games and was able to amass 203 yards on 20 catches, and without netting a touchdown the entire season.
How does Woods fit into the Steelers wide receiver room? That has yet to be determined considering the Steeles didn’t choose to trade George Pickens at any time during the NFL Draft. However, it should be noted there is no guarantee Woods even makes the 53-man roster, the Steelers are just giving him an opportunity.
With all that said, Woods will be a strong veteran presence for the wide receiver room and should be a positive role model for a young corps of receivers to learn from and glean information off of throughout the offseason.

Can’t hurt for Mr. Woods to hang out a bit, keep the room on even keel during the summer heat.
a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s Steelers Omar Khan should’ve traded George Pickens to Jerry Jones Omar Khan stand a chance of getting the Cowboys number# 1 2025 draft pick then Omar Khan would’ve and could’ve drafted a wide receiver
I like adding Woods to the room. I am not sure how/if he will fit in the end, but it is nice to have a solid vet.
