Steelers trade with the Dolphins for CB Jalen Ramsey
The Pittsburgh Steelers made another offseason splash this offseason by making a trade which had been rumored for weeks.
The Steelers made a deal with the Miami Dolphins for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
This per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
At this point, there are a lot of questions surrounding the trade and what it means for the 2025 Steelers defense.
With the prior acquisition of Darius Slay, how does Ramsey fit with Slay and Joey Porter Jr.?
On top of that, what about the contract? It is likely the Steelers will want to re-do Ramsey’s deal, which has void years built into it after re-working the deal last offseason, but how that will work has yet to be made known.
Either way, the Steelers improved their defense greatly with this move. What did they give up? Stay tuned to SCN for more details as they become available.
I’d like to know what price we paid.
This could be really good for us, as long as we didn’t severely overpay.
Minkah is gone. Ramsey and Jonnu Smith in.
Yeah, just saw that. Not sure how I feel about that.
For all the talk of Minkah’s “decline”, I think he’s still a very good safety. I like getting Ramsey and Jonnu, but not sure what we’ll do at safety now.
Paid much in personnel…
Oh boy. I sincerely hope Omar un-eff’s that contract, or has the Dolphins eating a bunch of it, cause it’s pretty damn bad.
Nope, at least not the up-front portion, but this did just break.
Pgh traded Minkah for Ramsey, and will increase Ramsey’s salary by 1.5MM? Incredible. Perhaps Matt Williamson’s getting his wish to see Ramsey at S.
Small correction: we traded Minkah for Ramsey AND Jonnu Smith.
Plus a 5-for-7 pick swap.
a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s the Steelers Omar Khan didn’t have to trade for CB Jalen Ramsey he lost a step and the Steelers will have to pay Jalen Ramsey the rest of his guaranteed money all the Steelers had CB Cory Trice Jr. start on the other side of the Steelers defense Cory Trice Jr. was much cheaper
Corey Trice also has yet to prove he can stay on the field for any significant amount of games.
