Kenny Gainwell and Payton Wilson with a great matchup. Gainwell wins off the line but Wilson comes back into the play with a great recovery and gets the PBU on a corner route.

Roman Wilson with his first wow catch of camp in the one on ones. Double move against JPJ, Rudolph throws a jump ball and Wilson goes up and over JPJ to make the catch. Zach Azzanni pumped up.
— Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) July 31, 2025
Jalen Ramsey and Calvin Austin went against each other in a rematch of a one-on-one release drill. Ramsey forced Austin out to win the rep and immediately started chirping.
WR Roc Taylor took exception to Ramsey’s trash talk and the two ended up toe-to-toe. Wilson de-escalated.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2025
Hell of a play by Brandin Echols on Scotty Miller. Mirrored on a go route and just made a fantastic PBU.

Jonnu Smith catches deep ball over Juan Thornhill and throws the ball at the safety. Thornhill takes exception and charges Smith and the scuffle starts. Players intervene to break it up.
— Joe Rutter (@tribjoerutter) July 31, 2025
Juan Thornhill has been chirping at Jonny Smith all period. Followed him around the entire field. Locked him up at the end of one on ones and is still jawing at Smith after winning.
A tussle ensues after that. This is a chirpy secondary.
— Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) July 31, 2025
Those two went right back at it and Thornhill basically tackled Smith.
Feisty even without the pads today. https://t.co/ejrpoYs8E0
— Alan Saunders (@ASaunders_PGH) July 31, 2025

Steelers finishing today with one more team period. Aaron Rodgers sharp in this one so far, hitting DK Metcalf on a slant and now threading the needle to Robert Woods for a completion with 74 combined years of veteran savvy.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2025
Good day for Will Howard. Finished off his day with a nice throw on a crosser to Max Hurleman for about 25 yards.
— Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) July 31, 2025
That’s a wrap on today’s unpadded, yet chippy practice.
Steelers will be back in action tomorrow night at Latrobe Memorial Stadium for Friday Night Lights.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2025
Thank God Seumalo is feeling better!
And B Jones77
I like a chirppy secondary!
As long as they are playing well and not looking foolish by the end of it I’m fine with it. And obviously not getting penalties. Give me a guy like Minkah or Darrell Green all day over someone who lets them know you stopped them.
Sure. Sure. They’re on an island so I want them to be extremely confident, and have very short memories.
For sure
Love that Roc stepped in to defend one of his guys.
The Steelers haven’t had a secondary this chirpy in a long time. Probably since the days of Ryan Clark and company. This could be a special season for the DBs
Love the chippiness! That means both units are pumped and looking to be in control. And that neither unit is backing down from the challenge.
