Steelers vs. Jaguars, Preseason Week 1: 1st Half news, updates and open thread

It is hard to believe, but this is the third Pittsburgh Steelers season for us in our new home, and it’s as exciting in Year 3 as it was in Year 1. However, this is also the first season with our new-look website, which I’m really excited about! However, with that comes some curiosity, and trepidation, about what this new home will look like during games.

Last season we started off slow, but these open threads during games became more and more lively as the season progressed. We are hoping we pick up right where we left off in 2023 and get some great participation in these game day open threads. If there is a desire/need for quarterly open threads in the regular season, I’ll be more than happy to make that adjustment.

This is the 1st half open thread for the Steelers vs. Jaguars, Week 1 preseason game.

In the meantime, stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers, and enjoy the upcoming game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 of the NFL preseason!

Trying to find a steelers feed. Nothing better than football….nothing worse than the preseason feed from the other team.

Nice job of our 2nd and 3rd team D keeping a starting O out of the end zone.

Also remember it’s a fist time OFFENSIVE head coach who was probably doing/showing more than typical in the preseason.

Washington lined up next to Jones on every (?) play that series. Jones looked like he was being walked backwards on the TD pass.

As long as his guy isn’t running around him untouched and flattening the QB, I’m good.

That’s a top EDGE guy in the NFL (ranked 13th in 2024). “Walking back” is not that bad.

Yes there was a hands to the face, but the o-line has been giving Rudolph tons of time.

Same, for open threads especially I like Newest. I don’t have as much of a preference for regular articles.

Each time I refresh this thread though, it automatically switches me back to “Oldest” though.

Corliss Waitman costs how much less than Johnston…?

Johnston has 2 years left on his contract so there is a good bit of dead money. But half would be next year. So it would be $2.5 million savings with Waitman costing $1.1 million.

My thoughts- first team O line gave Rudolph tons of time.
– Roman Wilson looks good
-Kaleb Johnson looks kind of slow and timid
-I like the play calling by Arthur smith

It’s not about winning a preseason game. But seeing the 4 min offense give way to 2 min offense and do what they did was impressive.
