The best quarterbacks from 2024 the Steelers are set to face in 2025
After taking a look at the top rushers and wide receivers from 2024 who are scheduled to face the Steelers in 2025, today it’s time to check out the quarterbacks who are on the Steelers schedule this season who finished toward the top of the yardage standings last year. As I said before, there could be injuries, trades, benchings, or holdouts which could make these players not able to see the field when they face the Black & Gold. But for now, these things can’t be known for sure.
This list consists of players who had at least 3,000 passing yards in 2024, their overall rank in yardage last season, and the week in which they will face the Steelers. The Majority of the matchups fall in the second half of the season.
Joe Burrow (1st)
Cincinnati Bengals
Week 7, Week 11
Leading the NFL in passing last season, Joe Burrow has had mixed success against the Steelers in his seven matchups. Throwing 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in seven games, Burrow has three games in which he’s thrown over 300 passing yards against the Steelers. But in those games, Burrow is 1–2. On the flip-side, in both games Burrow has thrown for under 200 yards against the Steelers he is 2–0. So Joe Burrow carving up the Steelers isn’t necessarily the Bengals path to success.
Jared Goff (2nd)
Detroit Lions
Week 16
Passing for more than 4,400 yards in each of the last three seasons, Jared Goff has faced the Steelers twice in his career with one game being with the Rams and the other with the Lions. In 2019, Goff threw no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 17–12 loss to the Steelers while in 2021 he threw for a 114 yards at less than 100% health in a 16–16 tie in Pittsburgh where he had no touchdowns or interceptions.
Sam Darnold (5th)
Seattle Seahawks
Week 2
Joining his fifth team going into his eighth NFL season, Sam Donald is coming off of his best year yet where he threw for over 4,000 yards with the Minnesota Vikings. Now joining the Seattle Seahawks, it will be interesting to see how Donald adjusts to a new system. He has faced the Pittsburgh Steelers twice as a starter and is 1–1. Donald threw a touchdown and had 183 yards passing in a 16–10 win over the Steelers as a member of the New York Jets in 2019. In 2022 as the starter for the Carolina Panthers, Donald threw for 225 yards and one touchdown in a 24–16 loss.
Lamar Jackson (6th)
Baltimore Ravens
Week 14, Week 18
The NFL’s reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson faced the Steelers more than once in a season for the first time in 2024. In his previous five seasons, Jackson’s first start in Pittsburgh in 2019 where he only had 161 passing yards with one passing touchdown and three interceptions was his only win. Jackson lost his next four starts against the Steelers, including the first matchup in 2024. In those first five matchups, Jackson had only 5 passing touchdowns to 8 interceptions.
But the last two games against the Steelers have been a completely different story. Including the postseason, Lamar Jackson is 2–0 against the Steelers in the last two games with five touchdowns to one interception. Jackson also rushed for almost 150 yards in the two wins.
Justin Herbert (9th)
Los Angles Chargers
Week 10
In five NFL seasons, Justin Herbert has thrown for over 3000 yards every year, including when he only played in 13 games in 2023. Facing the Steelers twice in his career, it has been two completely different results. In 2021 Herbert orchestrated a 41–37 victory where he threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns with an interception and added another 90 rushing yards on nine attempts. But in 2024, Herbert threw for only 125 yards and a touchdown in a 20–10 loss against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
Josh Allen (14th)
Buffalo Bills
Week 13
One of the top quarterbacks in the NFL for several seasons, Josh Allen has had a lot of success against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In five games, including one in the 2023 postseason, Allen is 4–1 with 11 touchdowns to three interceptions. In 2022, Allen threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns along with one interception in a 38–3 route of the Steelers. His only loss came in Week 1 of 2021, which is also the only regular season game he hasn’t thrown an interception against the Steelers. Additionally, Allen has rushed for more than 25 yards in every game with two rushing touchdowns. Alen rushed for 74 yards on eight attempts and a touchdown against the Steelers in the aftermath of a blizzard in the 2023 postseason.
Caleb Williams (17th)
Chicago Bears
Week 12
Starting all 17 games in his rookie season, Caleb Williams passed for 3,541 yards from 351 completions on 561 attempts. Williams had 20 touchdowns to six interceptions as well as 489 rushing yards on 81 rushing attempts. With only one NFL season under his belt, Williams has never faced the Steelers but will do so in Chicago this November just before Thanksgiving.
Jordan Love (19th)
Green Bay Packers
Week 8
Despite being drafted in 2020, Jordan Love is only entering his third season as a starter in Green Bay. But since the NFL added the 17th game which gave an additional cross-conference matchup, the Steelers hosted Jordan Love in Pittsburgh in 2023. In that matchup, the Steelers were victorious 23–19 where Love threw for 289 yards on 21 completions from 40 attempts along with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
No poor jokes today on this article, promise. NFC North QBs/offenses are dam tough.
